Coming to addiction treatment can be a tough and often overwhelming decision, and it’s natural to feel uncertain about what lies ahead. We want you to know that you don’t have to navigate this process alone. Our team is here to answer any questions you may have and to provide clear, compassionate guidance about what you can expect from treatment. To make things easier, we’ve put together a list of frequently asked questions and answers, giving you helpful information up front and helping ease some of the unknowns. From the first phone call to your arrival and throughout your stay, we’ll walk with you every step of the way, ensuring you feel supported, informed, and reassured as you take this important step toward healing.

Preparing to Come to Treatment

We allow limited device use based on your phase of care and progress in treatment. All patients must sign and follow an electronics consent form prior to use. Examples of devices which may be allowed are: cell phones, tablets, music players, and blue tooth headphones.

Yes. EOSIS Lake Shore has designated smoking areas. You can smoke between group hours as well as before or after daily group hours. Smoking is not allowed overnight during curfew hours. Vaping is permitted but only a limited amount of non-fillable, non-rechargeable, disposable vapes are allowed.

We are an abstinence-based treatment program so use of any mood-altering chemicals not managed or prescribed by a doctor is not allowed. EOSIS Lakeshore does not allow medical marijuana use.  

Yes. We want everyone to feel safe and free from substances so items may need to be searched. The mailing address is: 140 Quail St, Mahtomedi, MN 55115

All over the counter medications need a provider order in order to be administered. On-site provider can assist with an order and may take up to 72 hours to obtain. These medications are not covered by insurance and you may be asked to pay out of pocket for them. Vitamins can be brought in but must be unopened/sealed. Supplements need to be approved by our medical provider.

We allow service animals with the appropriate paperwork. Animal support animals are not allowed.

We provide medication assisted treatments to ease the discomfort of withdrawal and to ease cravings. If you are medically compromised, we may have you detox at one of our Gateway Recovery centers before coming to treatment. That will be determined during your intake process.

What to Expect Once You're Here

You can have visitors on Thursday from 6pm-8pm and Sunday from 1pm-3pm. Visitors cannot bring in their cell phones or other contraband items.

Yes. EOSIS offers co-occurring mental health services provided by a MN Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.

Off-site passes are not typically part of treatment, however, may be approved on a case-by-case basis depending on circumstances. Medical or court appointments may need to be rescheduled depending on the availability of staff drivers. There are Twelve Step meetings you can choose to attend. We also have a Walmart located nearby in case you need anything. There are times we go to local parks or the zoo.

 

You can bring your own snacks but they must be factory sealed, nonperishable, and free of all mood-altering chemicals not managed or prescribed by a doctor (no bakery or homemade food, or refrigerated items allowed). All beverages must be nonperishable and free of all mood-altering chemicals not managed or prescribed by a doctor. We also have snacks and beverages available and a vending machine you can purchase products from.

Our meals are prepared on-site. 3 meals per day plus an evening snack are provided. If you have a special diet order, food restrictions, or religious restrictions, please inform nursing staff during admission so accommodation can be arranged.

Groups and individual sessions are about an hour. You will see your counselor for an individual session at least once a week. You will have 30 hours of clinical programming a week while in the high-intensity residential program and then transition to 15 hours a week once you are in the low-intensity residential program.

We have basketball, corn hole/bags, horseshoes, pond fishing, bon fires, kickball at local field, multiple walks with staff a week, trips to a local beach, exercise bike and a punching bag.

You’ll have either one or two other roommates. Addiction is a disease of isolation – fellowship helps with the recovery process.

You may have appointments for individual therapy or continuing care once you are discharged. We will connect you with the appropriate community resource to continue your recovery journey.
