Coming to addiction treatment can be a tough and often overwhelming decision, and it’s natural to feel uncertain about what lies ahead. We want you to know that you don’t have to navigate this process alone. Our team is here to answer any questions you may have and to provide clear, compassionate guidance about what you can expect from treatment. To make things easier, we’ve put together a list of frequently asked questions and answers, giving you helpful information up front and helping ease some of the unknowns. From the first phone call to your arrival and throughout your stay, we’ll walk with you every step of the way, ensuring you feel supported, informed, and reassured as you take this important step toward healing.

Preparing to Come to Treatment

Yes. Personal electronic devices such as cell phones, tablets, music players, and blue tooth headphones are allowed. Personal wearable devices such as smart rings, smart watches, smart glasses, and other similar devices are not permitted without a doctor’s order. Use is permitted but limited under certain circumstances.

Medications coming in must be current prescriptions. Our nursing staff will request active orders. This may take 24-48 hours to obtain. Only immediate need medical appointments will be allowed in the high-intensity program. Other appointments will need to wait until you transition to the medium-intensity program. Staff will help with transportation resources.

Yes. EOSIS Anchorage has designated smoking areas. You can smoke between group hours as well as before or after daily group hours. Smoking is not allowed overnight during curfew hours. Vaping is permitted but only a limited amount of non-fillable, non-rechargeable, disposable vapes are allowed.

Unfortunately, we do not allow therapy dogs in treatment.

We provide medication assisted treatments to ease the discomfort of withdrawal and to ease cravings. If you are medically compromised, we may have you detox at one of our Gateway Recovery centers before coming to treatment. That will be determined during your intake process.

What to Expect Once You're Here

Yes. Visitation is encouraged. You will typically be eligible to have visitors a couple weeks after admission. Visitors must sign a confidentiality agreement at the front desk prior to visiting. Visitors are not allow to bring purses, bags or backpacks, and cell phones. Please leave them in your vehicle. Visitors are subject to search or breathalyzer upon staff request and may be restricted from visitation if they are found with prohibited items or under the influence. Any items that visitors bring you must be approved prior to the visit by your counselor. Visiting hours are Thursdays from 6:30 – 8:30 pm and Sundays from 2 -5 pm.

Yes. EOSIS Anchorage offers co-occurring mental health services provided by a MN Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. You may also choose to get mental health services through local community mental health providers.

Passes are not allowed for High-intensity patients. Low-intensity patients can have passes with frequency and length dependent on each person’s clinical progression. Low-intensity patients are encouraged to find part-time employment outside of group hours and may use their personal car for transportation with proof of a valid DL, insurance and registration.

Yes. We have a pool and exercise equipment, and many patients take walks.

The Peer Specialist takes patients to outside recovery meetings multiple times a week as well as to the store to get hygiene and essential items. All those interested can attend church on Sundays. But participation in these activities depends on what phase of treatment you are in.

Coffee is available until lunchtime. Snacks are available in the evening after dinner.

Breakfast is continental whereas lunch and dinner are hot meals provided by our on-site chefs. We can accommodate dietary restrictions.

Groups and individual sessions are about an hour. You will see your counselor for an individual session at least once a week. You will have 30 hours of clinical programming a week while in the high-intensity residential program and then transition to 15 hours a week once you are in the low-intensity residential program.

Most rooms/bathrooms are a two-person occupancy. There are two rooms that are three-person occupancy

Yes, AA, NA, and many of their choosing. An AA meeting comes into the facility every Wednesday night for those that are not able to leave and anyone else that would like to attend.

You may have appointments for individual therapy or continuing care once you are discharged. We will connect you with the appropriate community resource to continue your recovery journey.
